Paul has spent every night by his bedside in a recliner. We had a room in Samuel Way building but didn't feel right leaving him there all by himself.
22nd May: I took Charlotte to the zoo to get out of the hospital. I am glad I did as when we got back it was decided that he was to be put on haemodialysis. We had spoken about is for the past couple of days but really hoped that he would start to wee, but in true Angus style nothing has gone to plan. While he was going to be put under they decided that they would also do a kidney biopsy and a colonoscopy. It was extremely hard to hand him over to people that I didn't even know but unfortunately it has become a regular thing in our lives.
Ofcourse there was risks involved in these procedures and with the kidney biopsy there was a 1 in 10,000 chance that it may bleed out. Well Angus was that 1 in 10,000. This wasn't noticed until about 4am when he started weeing blood. he was taken back into radiology to have coils inserted into the kidney to stop the bleeding, thankfully this stopped but the part that this happened to has died off. This was the second time that he nearly didn't make it.
He remained intubated for a week. All I can say is thank god for family and friends as I don't think we could of got through without there love and support.
Kerry you are so amazing and brave. Everytime I read these blog updates I get teary, imagining what you would be feeling like and also how bad Angus must have been feeling.
ReplyDeleteI came to see you yesterday and drove all around looking for a park-even by the zoo and couldnt get one anywhere! Even the hospital carpark was full!
I am so glad he is getting better now.
