13th May 2010 The day our lives changed forever.

Angus was a happy little boy who only ever cried when he was hungry or in pain.  This morning he woke up and Paul got up to him and gave him his bottle.  I was heading down to coffee morning after I dropped Charlotte off at kindy.  I was sitting talking to some girls when Angus spewed all over me and was really not himself.  He was pretty sleepy all day.  He had a docs appointment which I nearly cancelled but ended up taking him anyway.  I was told to keep an eye on him and if he was to get any worse to call them back.  He didn't get any better and started to get diahorrea aswell as the vomiting.  I rang back and was told to take him to the hospital if he gets any worse.

He continued to have the runs and I remember ringing the hospital to say what had been going on, so they were expecting us.  Paul was changing his bum and just said you need to get him there now.  I took his temp and it was 34 degrees, i threw the thermometer as i thought it was broken but it wasn't.

I got to the hospital and that is where our nightmare became real.

I thank god that the nurses that were on that night knew what to do and thank goodness Dr Lewis got the intraosseous needle into his leg, as this is what saved his life.

The whole night is a blur of things that went on.  At one point I have a healthy little boy and the next he is nearly taken away from us.
